University of Bamberg Certified at We Impact Level 2
The Otto Friedrich University of Bamberg became the first university in Germany to be successfully certified under the We Impact Level 2 sustainability management standard. In doing so, the University of Bamberg is sending a strong message to the higher education sector and demonstrating how sustainability can be effectively integrated into university structures over the long term.
With approximately 11,500 students and a wide range of degree programs in the humanities, social sciences, economics, and human sciences, the University of Bamberg is one of Bavaria’s leading universities. Research, teaching, and university operations are closely linked to a clear commitment to social responsibility and sustainable development.
With the successful completion of the We Impact Level 2 audit, this commitment has now been confirmed by an independent review. The university also views the certification as an important milestone, as Chancellor Dr. Dagmar Steuer-Flieser emphasizes: “It confirms that we have strategically embedded sustainability at the University of Bamberg and are consistently advancing it—and it encourages us to continue on this path with conviction.”
We extend our warmest congratulations to the University of Bamberg on its successful certification and are delighted to welcome it to the We Impact Community.
